Cobalt Freckle Hand-Thrown Bowl

Hand-thrown in Chattanooga by local ceramic artist Austin Memmer, the Blue Freckle Bowl is a celebration of handmade character and the beauty found in imperfection. A creamy glaze is scattered with expressive cobalt-blue speckles, making each bowl entirely its own.

A Chattanooga native with a background in interior design, Austin spent several years designing custom pools and outdoor living spaces before choosing to pursue ceramics full-time. Her love of pottery first began in high school, and years later, she returned to the wheel as a creative outlet and a way to slow down. What began as a quiet practice quickly became a renewed passion for working with clay and creating pieces meant to be used, loved, and lived with every day.

Austin draws inspiration from the textures, colors, and imperfect beauty she encounters in everyday life and while traveling with her husband, particularly on their mission to visit every national park in the United States. Her design background carries through each piece, balancing beauty with function and an easy sense of warmth.

Because every bowl is individually thrown and glazed by hand, no two are exactly alike. Subtle variations in shape, size, glaze, and splatter pattern are part of what makes each piece unique.
